New England is a bidding and placement game where
you compete with other colonists to build shelter, raise animals
and grow food. The players bid against each other in a unique
and novel bidding system to determine who pays the highest
amount of money for the best pieces of land. Players also
bid on ships to gain access to more land; pilgrims to earn
extra money; and barns to store items that they can't immediately
use. Players won't always have the best plots of land at their
disposal however, as other players may act more quickly and
purchase the best selections before anyone else.
"When we first played New England, we knew that
it would be a great success," says Jeremy Young, CEO
of Uberplay Entertainment. "The novel bidding system,
which controls how much people pay for items, as well as the
turn order, is something that we haven't seen before in a
game. New England can be explained in about five minutes
and it is easy enough for the whole family to enjoy."
